Guide 1 · UKOGB staff

Get verified

Everything in UKOGB starts with a website account. You get one by verifying through the bot in Discord.

  1. Join the Discord server

Everything happens there and on this website. Use the Discord link at the top of every page.

  2. Answer the questionnaire

In the Verification channel, press "Answer the questionnaire". The bot sends you a few questions in DMs, one at a time: your roleplay name, your Roblox username, your age and what you are interested in. Type "cancel" to stop.

  3. Or talk to a person

Prefer to do it with someone? Press "Continue with a staff member" instead and a member of staff will DM you and make your account for you.

  4. Get your access code

When you finish, the bot DMs you an access code that looks like UKOGB-7KQ4-M2XD. It is your username on this website.

  5. Log in and choose a password

Log in with your access code and the password ChangeMe, then choose your own password. That verifies your account and gives you the Verified role in Discord.

Guide 2 · You

Set up your account

Your account page is your identity in UKOGB. It is what other members see on your profile and on official documents.

  1. Add your Roblox username

Under "Your details" on your account page. Staff use it to make your portrait.

  2. Get your portrait

Once your Roblox username is set, open a ticket in the Tickets channel and ask for your portrait. Staff render it from your avatar and it appears on your profile, the Cabinet and campaign posts.

  3. Check your signature

Your signature starts as your name in handwriting. Upload your own on your account page if you like. It goes on every letter and press release you make.

  4. Write your backstory

Who your character is and where they came from. An admin approves it, then it shows on your profile.

  5. Read the server rules

They are in the Rules channel and on your account page.

Guide 3 · Party leaders

Join a party

Parties fight elections, form the Government and the Opposition, and decide who stands where. You can also stay Independent.

  1. Read the parties

The Parties page lists every party with its leader, its MPs and its manifesto.

  2. Ask to join

Open a party's page and press "Ask to join". The leader or deputy leader accepts you. If the party has neither, you join straight away.

  3. Or stay Independent

Not ready to pick a side? You don't have to join anything. Independents can still stand for Parliament, and skip the party leader's approval.

  4. Get involved

Members can call for a leadership election, and a party with no leader can start one: two days of nominations, then two days of secret voting.

Guide 4 · Electoral Commission

Become an MP

The House of Commons has 32 seats. There are two ways in: apply for an empty seat between elections, or stand as a candidate when an election is held.

  1. Find an empty seat

The Constituencies page shows every seat and who holds it.

  2. Apply for it

On Apply for a seat, choose the constituency and your party (or Independent) and write a short statement about why you want it. You can have one application at a time.

  3. The party leader approves

Your party's leader backs your application first. Independents skip this. If the party has no leader yet, you skip it too, and you become the party's leader if you are successful.

  4. The Electoral Commission approves

The Electoral Commission checks it, and you take your seat.

  5. Or stand at an election

General elections fill every seat, about every 30 days. When nominations open, press "Stand as a candidate" on the election page. By-elections fill a single seat when it becomes empty; party candidates need their leader's backing.

  6. Win the vote

Every member votes at vote.ukogb.co.uk: one secret vote in each contested seat. A seat with only one candidate is won unopposed, and a tie is settled by the Electoral Commission.

Guide 5 · The Speaker

Make a law

Only MPs can put bills before the House, and every bill has a single reading and vote. Not an MP? Write to yours or start a petition.

  1. Submit a bill

MPs write the bill on Submit a bill. It gets the next number, such as HC Bill 12.

  2. The Speaker opens the vote

After the debate, the Speaker opens a division. MPs vote Aye, No or Abstain with the buttons the bot posts in the Commons Chamber channel. It usually stays open for 24 hours.

  3. The result

More Ayes than Noes and the bill passes. A tie falls. Party whips may tell their MPs how to vote, and rebels are shown on the bill page.

  4. Royal Assent

A bill that passes goes to the Sovereign for Royal Assent. Then it becomes an Act of Parliament and is listed on the Laws page.

Guide 6 · House of Commons

Start a petition

Anyone with an account can start a petition to ask the Government or Parliament to do something.

  1. Write it

Press Start a petition, give it a clear title and say what you want to happen and why.

  2. Share it

Post the link in Discord and get people to sign. Each member can sign once.

  3. 5 signatures

    The Government has to respond.

  4. 10 signatures

The petition is considered for a debate in Parliament.

Guide 7 · Department heads

Get a job

Departments, public bodies, news outlets and companies all hire members. Jobs come with a salary, paid every day.

  1. Look at the jobs board

It lists every position with a free place, plus jobs at companies.

  2. Apply

Write a few sentences about yourself and press Send application. You can withdraw it while it is waiting.

  3. The head decides

The head of the organisation (or the company) accepts or turns you down, and you get a notification either way.

  4. Get paid

Your salary is paid into your UnbelievaBoat bank every day, with income tax taken off. Your payslips are on your account.

Guide 8 · Companies House

Start a company

Companies House, run by the Department for Business and Trade, keeps the register of every UKOGB company and its directors.

  1. Choose a type

A private limited company (Ltd), a public limited company (PLC), a limited liability partnership (LLP) or a sole trader.

  2. Pick a name

It must end the right way: "Ltd" or "Limited", "PLC" or "LLP". A sole trader just uses the name they trade under.

  3. Say what it does and who runs it

Describe the business in a line and tick any other directors. You are a director automatically, and each person you name has to confirm.

  4. The Registrar decides

The Registrar of Companies checks the application. Once registered, your company gets its 8-digit number and a page on the register.

  5. Run it

Hire members through the jobs board, bid for Government contracts and pay dividends. A PLC can list its shares on the UKOGB Stock Exchange with the FCA's approval.

Guide 9 · HM Courts and Tribunals Service

Take someone to court

If another member owes you money or has wronged you in the roleplay, you can make a civil claim against them.

  1. File the claim

Choose who you are claiming against, give the claim a title, explain what happened and how much you are claiming. Add links to evidence such as screenshots or Discord messages.

  2. The defence

The defendant is told and files their defence.

  3. The hearing

HMCTS lists the case for a hearing in front of a judge.

  4. Judgment

The judge decides for the claimant or the defendant, or dismisses the claim. Judgments are published as case law.

Guide 10 · Bar Standards Board and SRA

Become a lawyer

Barristers argue cases in court. Solicitors advise clients and prepare their cases. Each has its own regulator.

  1. Choose barrister or solicitor

The Bar Standards Board admits barristers; the Solicitors Regulation Authority admits solicitors.

  2. Take the entry test

25 multiple-choice questions on the law and the profession's rules. You need 18 right within 30 minutes. A retake has different questions.

  3. The character check

Answer some questions about your record and why you want to qualify. The regulator reads them and decides.

  4. Take on clients

Members and the CPS can ask you to act for them. Barristers can appear in court at once; a solicitor needs the judge's approval to argue at a hearing.

Guide 11 · Bank of England and the FCA

Money and banking

Your money lives in UnbelievaBoat in Discord. The banks on this website let you save it, borrow and invest it.

  1. Earn it

From a job (paid daily), Universal Credit, or your own company.

  2. Open an account

Four banks offer current accounts, savings, Cash ISAs and investment accounts. Their rates follow the Bank of England's Bank Rate.

  3. Borrow

Loans are approved automatically if your credit score is high enough. Everyone starts at 600, and payments are taken weekly.

  4. Invest

Buy shares in listed companies, bank funds and gilts from an ISA or investment account, or try Premium Bonds for a monthly prize draw.
